Several adults volunteer to read to children in the children’s area of the library. The volunteers have taken the training offered periodically by the Los Angeles Public Library system and funded by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. Many use puppets, flannel boards and other props to enhance the children’s reading experience. The parents must be on the library premises while their youngsters are listening to the GAB reader. A current schedule for GAB training is available at the Library Reference Desk. There are currently 8 readers on the weeks schedule. The program is headed by Barbara Metzenbaum, our Children’s Librarian.
